ABOUT US

  • Upstream Fish and Habitat Conservation was established in 2026 as a sister company to Carp Solutions LLC, a University of Minnesota start-up founded in 2015. Our journey began with a focus on managing common carp—one of the world’s most invasive fish species. As our work expanded across new regions, ecosystems, and species, we recognized the need for a broader mission. This led to the creation of Upstream, dedicated to the conservation and management of diverse fish populations and their habitats, including native species of special conservation concern.

  • At Upstream, we specialize in the development and implementation of innovative technologies through collaborations with international partners as well as in-house research and engineering. Our solutions include low-voltage fish barriers and guidance systems, autonomous platforms for real-time monitoring of fish movement, and cellular-enabled underwater cameras for remote observation of fish behavior. These technologies are highly automated, helping reduce operational costs while increasing efficiency and scalability.

Research and scientific publication are central to our work. Our extensive body of peer-reviewed literature reflects our commitment to advancing knowledge and delivering effective, science-based solutions for aquatic conservation.
